Cycles of Collapse and Creation: The Power of Mixed Media in The Rebirth of Destruction

At the Future Art & Design Award 2025 Spring Season, Shen Pei Chia was honored with the Silver Prize in the Mixed Media Painting category for her striking and emotionally charged work, The Rebirth of Destruction.

Please give us a brief introduction about yourself and your creative background:

I don't have a formal art education. I simply love painting, and I've been creating art for a long time. I find a sense of freedom in painting, where I can express my emotions and thoughts within my own time and space.

What inspired you to pursue a career in creative / art ?

One day, I realized that I lose track of hunger and sleep while painting, and I knew this is what my soul loves.

Can you describe the creative process behind your work and what motivates you to create?

Sketching often adheres to established standards, but I wanted to break free. So, I disrupted my own drawing process, ultimately leading to the creation of this piece.

What was the most exciting or challenging part of creating the work you submitted to the competition?

To be honest, this was my first time participating in a competition, and I was quite nervous. But I was also very curious about how others would perceive my painting, so I decided to enter. I'm incredibly happy to have received the Silver Award. Thank you everyone.

How would you describe your creative style and the key characteristics that define your work?

I'm drawn to irregular lines and shapes, as well as strikingly contrasting colors. Some people describe my paintings as Fauvist, others as abstract. However, I don't want to limit myself or define my art. I prefer to paint following my intuition

What has been your experience participating in the competition? Were you satisfied with the process and results?

The wait for the results was truly long and filled with anticipation. I'm so grateful for everyone's recognition. As a first-time participant, I'm quite satisfied with the outcome. Thank you

Where do you see the future of the art and design industry heading in the next 5-10 years?

The emergence of AI is indeed a shock, but many artistic creators will remain. I believe that humans will continue to produce unique and excellent art that AI cannot replicate.
