About the award-winning piece: Il Viaggio
  • The setting of this work was inspired by my homeland: Sicily. An island that captivates you with its fragrances, colors, customs, and traditions. The context is “The Journey,” which gives the composition its title, flowing like life itself on its continuous voyage.

  • international music competition laureates

Through this piece, my intention is to narrate the journey of each individual—where everyone, within their own lived or future experiences, can listen inwardly and feel it as a voyage that leaves behind a suitcase full of emotions and sensations, forever imprinted in the heart.

  • The distinctive element of this composition is the instrument: the xylophone, whose sound carries the qualities of a child’s music box. It is no coincidence that this piece is dedicated to my second-born son, Michele, and was composed during the time of his birth.

  • The concept that inspired this work is the road. I travel a great deal for work, and the road has always fascinated me, becoming the key element of this piece, which continuously unfolds in evolution. The leitmotif of the work is: “No matter how long the road ahead, you will love the ending.”

  • When I write music, I consider it a complete form of art. In my case, I believe that each listener can find something authentic and personal within it—a clear, new, and incisive means of expression, shaped by each one’s unique human, personal, and professional life experiences.
