As daylight fades, the harbor settles into silence. Reflections of boats and city lights create a quiet balance between urban life and still water. This image invites viewers to pause and appreciate the peaceful moments hidden within a bustling city.

Interview
What inspired this award-winning photograph?
To be honest, this photograph was taken spontaneously. I simply came across a scene that caught my attention and decided to capture that moment.
What creative or technical challenges did you encounter?
The main challenge was photographing in low light. Having a tripod was essential to keeping the camera steady and capturing the peaceful atmosphere of the night.
How do you balance technique and artistic expression?
I was drawn to the sight of boats resting quietly on the lake at night. After spending the day carrying out their duties amid the noise and bustle of daily life, they finally seemed to have a moment to breathe and rest.
For me, photography is not always about complicated techniques. Sometimes, it is simply about recognizing the quiet beauty of an ordinary moment.
What would you like viewers to take away from the work?
I hope viewers can experience the tranquility of the night.
Even the smallest ripple can disturb a fleeting moment of peace. Through this photograph, I hope to remind people to appreciate the stillness and embrace the beauty of the present moment.
What role does photography play in the world today?
Photography is about preserving a moment in time.
Every photograph captures an instant that will never occur in exactly the same way again.
Editor’s Note
The restraint of Quiet Harbor is its strongest quality. Boats, reflections and the softened illumination of a harbour at night become an invitation to notice the pauses within urban life. Rather than treating low light as spectacle, the image centres an atmosphere of rest.
The photographer’s account of encountering the scene spontaneously is revealing: the decisive choice was not to manufacture drama, but to recognise a fleeting equilibrium. The use of a tripod served that emotional intention, allowing the quiet scene to hold its form.
