At the Future Art & Design Award UK 2026 Spring Season, Starry Rain Sonata received the Gold Prize in the Acrylic Painting category for its emotionally intimate exploration of grief, memory, and inner vulnerability.
Through delicate brushwork and poetic atmosphere, the painting transforms personal sorrow into a contemplative visual language. Rather than depicting grief directly, the work evokes the quiet emotional emptiness that follows loss—where feelings remain suspended between silence and expression.

In the world of dreams, I quietly lose myself in serenity. Small blossoms grow from my eyes, and my hair turns into plants, spreading and thriving freely. The pace of life presses down on me until I can barely breathe. In this dark world, I long for a shooting star to streak across the sky.
It comes from afar, drawing closer and growing larger. Though it is not the sun, it glows with a warm orange light—so gentle, so endearing. Music begins to echo all around, and the music transforms into even more shooting stars. I lift my head to the sky, half crying, half smiling. I want to catch that shooting star, to hold it in my arms, to possess that warmth.
Interview
Q. What initially inspired this project? Was there a particular idea, moment, or question that sparked its creation?
Eva:
At that time, I felt very helpless. It was the first time I had faced the passing of a family elder who truly loved and cared for me.
It was a very strange feeling—wanting to cry, yet being unable to. There was a sense of emptiness inside me. All I wanted was to portray certain things with the utmost delicacy, using my brushstrokes to express my emotions.
Q. What was the most exciting or most challenging aspect of bringing this work to life?
Eva:
Creating art has always been my way of surviving. I feel, I love, I suffer, and I enjoy every part of it.
Q. How was your experience taking part in the Future Art & Design Award UK?
Eva:
I’m very grateful to the Future Art & Design Awards UK for giving me the opportunity to prove my own value. I feel truly happy.
Editor’s Note
In Starry Rain Sonata, Eva approaches painting as emotional testimony.
The work’s strength lies in its restraint—allowing sorrow, tenderness, and emotional uncertainty to emerge quietly through atmosphere rather than direct narrative. By transforming personal grief into visual poetry, the painting creates a reflective space where vulnerability itself becomes a form of beauty.
