
From Vision to Reality: Chen Yu Hsuan / Jingyi Design’s Award-Winning Project “Green Spaces and Sustainability”
Chen Yu Hsuan from Jingyi Design has been awarded the Silver Prize in Environmental Concept Design at the 2025 Autumn Season of the Future Art & Design Award UK for project "Green Spaces and Sustainability." The jury praised the project as "a thoughtful project that creates a calm and inviting atmosphere with strong public appeal."
Chen Yu Hsuan is the director of Jingyi Design and has over 15 years of experience in architecture and interior design. Chen’s creative journey is marked by a commitment to transforming spaces through sustainable practices. Their work embodies a philosophy that marries artistry with environmental consciousness, establishing a new standard in design that prioritizes the well-being of both people and the planet.

Q: Please give us a brief introduction about yourself and your creative background.
Chen: I am Chen Yu Hsuan, the director of Jingyi Design, and I have been working in architecture and interior design for 15 years. These experiences fueled my desire to participate in international competitions!
Q: What inspired you to pursue a career in creative / art / design?
Chen: When I was young, I was moved by the focus and single-mindedness of Japanese architecture. Therefore, it prompts me to have creative ideas and motivations.
Q: Can you describe the creative process behind your work and what motivates you to create?
Chen: Changing the look of cities and sustainability is my mission as an architect and interior designer. This is a social responsibility, and it is also my requirements and expectations for myself.
Q: What was the most exciting or challenging part of creating the work you submitted to the competition?
Chen: In Taiwan, there are no relevant cases to refer to, and I want to use an innovative way of thinking to protect our land and cities. Use design to achieve social responsibility and mission!

Q: How would you describe your creative style and the key characteristics that define your work?
Chen: I tend to replace wasteland with greening, and regenerate wasteland through design and give it a new mission. The idea that nature should be revered and protected by humans is the focus of my work.
Q: What has been your experience participating in the competition? Were you satisfied with the process and results?
Chen: I felt excited and happy during the design process, and when I learned that I had won the award, I felt even a little unreal. I believe that the maintenance and protection of nature will be something I should do for the rest of my life.

Q: Where do you see the future of the art and design industry heading in the next 5-10 years?
Chen: I believe that sustainable development that combines industry and the environment is the future trend and direction. Therefore, humans and the environment should coexist and create extended meaning.
